Worship is central to all we do as a community – it is the ‘engine room’ of our life together. We invite you to join us for one of our services; children are very welcome in worship at St Andrew’s. Our Sunday services are based on the New Zealand Prayer Book / He Karakia Mihinare o Aotearoa, and include music, liturgical prayer, readings from Scripture, a sermon, and communion (also called the Eucharist or Lord’s Supper). As Anglicans, the sacraments are central to our worship.
Sunday Services:
8:00 – Traditional Eucharistic worship, with hymns; a quieter service. On the first Sunday of the month this service follows the 1928 Book of Common Prayer liturgy.
9:30 – Eucharistic worship, with a robed choir; on the first Sunday of each month our music is led by The Chocolate Fish, our youth band. Sunday School is held during this service during term time. Please ask one of the ushers for directions if you would like your child to attend Sunday School. Children return to church in time for communion, which they are welcome to receive.
11:15 – On the third Sunday of the month; Eucharistic worship using the traditional 1928 Book of Common Prayer liturgy.
Other Services
Wednesday @ 10:00 a.m.
A quiet midweek Eucharistic service, with an emphasis on intercessory prayer.
In addition to regular weekly worship, we come together at various times in the year for special services. These include services such as Nine Lessons and Carols and Midnight Mass for Christmas, services for Holy Week and Easter, and our Patronal Festival. Baptisms, Weddings, Funerals, and other Pastoral Liturgies can be arranged as required. Our clergy also offer a monthly Eucharistic service at Epsom on the Park, a local resthome.
Giving at St Andrew’s:
We take a collection during our Sunday services, though if you are a guest among us, please do not feel any obligation to give.
